At the Rainbow Bridge

Some blankets are just pretty. This one comes with feelings.

At the Rainbow Bridge is for those of us who know perfectly well that pets are not “just animals,” and who may or may not have entire camera rolls dedicated to furry children.

It’s a gorgeous blanket with lots of lovely detail, and squares to keep things interesting. As it unfolds, you get that lovely “something special is unfolding here” feeling as you work through each part.

Bring yarn, tissues, and perhaps a small emotional support biscuit.

Will I Be Able To Make This?
This is an intermediate pattern, so it does ask a little more of you than a beginner project, but that doesn’t mean it’s only for crochet superheroes. If you’re comfortable with the basics, happy to take your time, and don’t mind learning as you go, you may well surprise yourself.

Why you'll love this

If you adore a blanket with heart, this one will absolutely get you. It’s a deeply personal design, as I have always been a little animal crazy. I love them all – furry, feathered, scaly, and even the slimy ones like snails. OK, snails are ‘goggos,’ but they’re still cute, and they still need rescuing out of puddles when it’s raining, especially the teeny tiny ones.

My biggest ambition in life is to marry a rich man so he can buy me a huge farm, and I can rescue every animal that needs rescuing. If any of you know someone who fits the bill…….give him my number! I don’t even mind if he comes for a visit on the odd occasion lol!

At The Rainbow Bridge was created as a tribute to all the many ‘manimals’ I have been so privileged to share my life with, but especially for my two Yorkie babies, Pippa and Gizmo. I shared almost 17 years of love with my little Miss Peanut and 12 years with Mr Gizzie Momo.

It’s been a bit of a roller coaster working through the pattern. I handwrite all of my patterns before they are released, and for a few weeks, I struggled to even write the name of the pattern. I shed tears along the way and missed my furbabies like I have since they left me, but more importantly, I remembered all the love and kisses, doggie snuggles, doggie funnies, and all the beautiful years I had shared with my animal children. Remembering a life shared with them helped that part of my little heart heal a bit more.

I hope for those of you who have shared your life with a furry, feathered, scaly, or any other kind of ‘manimal’ friend, the pattern brings a little paw print back. Make it for the ones who are gone and the ones still here, and while you are making it, remember how lucky and blessed you are to share an amazing life with your pet.

Sending you all love, purrrrrrs, and wagging tails from Ness, Arthur, Pamitchi, Pepper, and Ziggy. And Peanut and Momo at The Bridge xxx
