Espiritu Del Sol – Afghan Crochet Pattern
Espiritu Del Sol has been a celebration of both colour and life. When the world was reaching the end of year two with coronavirus, what started out as a cro-doodle (crochet doodle) turned into an escape from the gloom of the world.
New Beginnings
“And suddenly you just know, it’s time to start something new and trust the magic of New Beginnings. Today is the beginning of whatever you want” Meister Eckhart
Ivy Paw Paw
I’ve always wanted a little girl child; one I could dress in pretty dresses and play dollies with. I even saved all my dolls from when I was little. My Cabbage Patch Kids and Baby Angel are patiently waiting in a cupboard to be loved by a little again. So, this one is for the cutest, naughtiest little Paw Paw I know – Ivy Paw Paw!
Thingie-ma-bob
After all the fun everyone had with Whatcha-ma-call-it and all the many requests I received via email or messenger to please design a doodad, or a doohickey, or a whatsit………. you didn’t think I was going to ignore you all, did you?
T-t-t-t-t-t Touch Me
The blanket is designed as a 130cm x 138cm lapghan, especially comforting to people with Alzheimer’s, autism, dementia, or sensory disabilities. Fiddle bits and pieces are calming and therapeutic, while the weight provides warmth and comfort.
FOR
I thought to myself, “It’s funny how we always make things For other people and very seldom For ourselves.” It’s always For my mom or For a friend or For someone I work with. And that I think is one of the greatest joys of crochet, the love we put into something we make For someone else. I have made mine For Emily, who was my great-grandmother. Who are you making yours For?
Whatchamacallit
In the process of design, I started calling this one Whatcha-ma-call-it, you know like when you’re looking for something, but you can’t remember what it’s called so you say: “Have you seen the thingie-mabob or the doo-dad or the whatcha-ma-call-it”?
Hooked on Grannies CAL
Hooked on Grannies has been a type of “going back to my roots” design and has been a proper labour of love for me. I’m not very fond of designing squares, to be honest, but I have always loved blankets made up of squares. They make me think of those proper retro blankets that your granny used to make and are just perfect for stash busting and learning.
